WJW Associates, LTD started as a small transportation company in 1979 as deregulation hit the trucking industry. The ability to see the possibilities with deregulation combined with an innovative approach to providing service would become the hallmarks of WJW. For the next 10 years the company worked to prosper in the new landscape of competitive trucking. While many thought that the new markets in trucking would make many companies successful, WJW was one of the few, small and truly independent operations to make it through these turbulent times.
In the 1990’s WJW moved into a new era. In the 1980’s, the company had focused on sales and acted as the agent for many larger and stronger companies. With the go-go 90’s, the company shifted focus to become its own brokerage and contract carriage company. WJW began to add assets in both trucking and warehousing. By the mid 90’s, the company had opened a new location in Medina, NY which was able to service both Rochester and Buffalo, NY. WJW also began to use its expertise in contract trucking to offer private fleet services for both union and non-union fleets in response to the needs of its customers.
The turn of the century would mark a new era for WJW and the industry as a whole. The economic impact of 9/11 forced many trucking companies out of business. Others navigated the difficult time and continued to grow. WJW was one of the strengthened survivors. In early 2003, WJW acquired a small consulting firm by the name of KDF Management, LLC. The addition of KDF Management’s stable of talent would initiate the start of a new phase of rapid growth and expansion of its core service offerings. With the new talents in the company WJW was able to start offering warehouse management services, Heavy Haul operations and 3PL Logistics services with an emphasis on freight management. The focus of growth throughout this period was from the pan handle of Florida to the first coast of Jacksonville.
As the first decade of the 21st century ends and the new decade begins, once again WJW is starting a new transition period. The new plan for the company is to grow throughout the Eastern US and open new terminals to provide stronger services and operating capabilities to every customer. In 2010 WJW opened its first new terminal in 6 years. Nashville, TN is now the home to a growing and thriving operation that will be the link between the Northeast and Southeast operations. Future terminals are planned in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic for a total of 10 new terminals in 5 years to provide a premiere network for our customers.
WJW will maintain its focus on small company service while providing larger company offerings. The technical expertise, service focused culture and belief in excellence in all we do at WJW will enable the company to continue to be a best of breed leader in transportation and logistics services.
